New apartment

Am Montag sind wir in die neue Wohnung eingezogen. Wow, das war ganz schön stressig, aber am Ende ist alles gut gegangen. Wir haben ein Bett, einen Tisch, einen Kühlschrank, etc.. Die Wohnung und die Überbauung gefallen uns sehr. Wir wohnen super zentral in einem lebendigen Quartier mit vielen Restaurants, Läden und grad gegenüber von einem grossen Einkaufszentrum. 
Der Preis, den wir für diese Lage zahlen, ist der Lärm. Unter uns – wir wohnen im 17. Stock – ist eine grosse Strasse mit Kreuzung. In Indien ist das noch lauter als anderswo, weil andauernd gehupt wird. Ausserdem hören wir den Muezzin (über Lautsprecher) mehrmals am Tag, was mir recht gut gefällt. Allerdings beginnt er jeden Morgen um 5:30, eine Zeit nach der ich nicht immer wieder einschlafe. Heute Nacht hat er mich nicht geweckt 🙌 und ich habe gut geschlafen.

Ich verbringe im Moment sehr viel Zeit in der Wohnung, weil dauernd etwas geliefert wird. Wenn ein Gerät kommt, wird es nicht ausgepackt. Das ist dann die Aufgabe des Technikers vom Gerätehersteller, der normalerweise später am selben Tag kommt. Dieser packt das Gerät (zum Beispiel den Kühlschrank) aus, installiert es und gibt mir eine Einführung, wie alles funktioniert. Das war beim Kühlschrank natürlich essenziell 😉.

Bei der Waschmaschine war alles etwas komplizierter. Der Installateur ist gekommen und hat gesehen, dass kein Wasserhahn angeschlossen ist, d.h. der Wasseranschluss war da, aber ohne Hahn. Also musste der Sanitär gerufen werden. Der ist dann wirklich ca. 20 Minuten später aufgetaucht (es ist immer ein Sanitär in der Überbauung, 7/24) und hat mir gesagt, dass er einen Wasserhahn kaufen muss. Der Waschmaschinen-Techniker hat dann gemeint, es sei eh Mittagszeit, er gehe essen und inzwischen könne der Sanitär den Hahn installieren. Gesagt getan. Nach ein-zwei Stunden war alles gemacht.

Kleiner Zusatz zur Geschichte: da wir immer noch kein Bankkonto haben (ja, das ist wirklich mühsam 🙄), müssen wir solche Ausgaben bar bezahlen. Der Sanitär hat den Wasserhahn gekauft, ich hatte den genauen Betrag nicht und er kein Rückgeld. Er hat dann einfach das genommen, was ich hatte, und mir die restlichen ca. 150 Rupien geschenkt. Diese Grosszügigkeit habe ich hier schon mehrmals erlebt ♥️.

​We moved into our new flat on Monday. Wow, that was pretty stressful, but everything went well in the end. We have a bed, a table, a fridge, etc.. We really like the flat and the "gated community". We live very centrally in a lively neighbourhood with lots of restaurants, shops and just opposite a large shopping centre. 
The price we pay for this location is the noise. Below us - we live on the 17th floor - is a large road with a junction. It's even louder in India than anywhere else because people are constantly honking their horns. We also hear the muezzin (via loudspeakers) several times a day, which actually I like. However, he starts every morning at 5.30 a.m., a time after which I don't always fall asleep again. Tonight he didn't wake me up 🙌 and I slept well.

​I'm spending a lot of time in the flat at the moment because something is constantly being delivered. When an appliance arrives, it's not unpacked. That's the job of the technician from the appliance manufacturer who is typically coming later on the same day. He unpacks the appliance (for example the fridge), installs it and gives me an introduction to how everything works. That was essential with the fridge, of course 😉.

​Everything was a bit more complicated with the washing machine. The plumber came and saw that there was no tap connected, i.e. the water connection was there, but without a tap. So the plumber had to be called. He actually turned up about 20 minutes later (there is always a plumber in the community, 7/24) and told me that he would have to buy a tap. The washing machine technician then said it was lunchtime anyway, he was going to eat and the plumber could install the tap in the meantime. No sooner said than done. After an hour or two, everything was done.

​A small addition to the story: as we still don't have a bank account (yes, it's really tedious 🙄), we have to pay such expenses in cash. The plumber bought the tap, I didn't have the exact amount and he didn't have any change. He then simply took what I had and said it's okay. There were approximately 150 rupees less than what I owed him. I have already experienced this generosity here several times ♥️.

​Lundi, nous avons emménagé dans notre nouvel appartement. Ohlala, c'était assez stressant, mais finalement, tout s'est bien passé. Nous avons un lit, une table, un réfrigérateur, etc. L'appartement et le lotissement nous plaisent beaucoup. Nous habitons au centre d'un quartier vivant avec beaucoup de restaurants, de magasins et juste en face d'un grand centre commercial. 
Le prix que nous payons pour cette situation est le bruit. En dessous de nous - nous habitons au 17e étage - il y a une grande rue avec un carrefour. En Inde, c'est encore plus bruyant qu'ailleurs, car on klaxonne sans cesse. En outre, nous entendons le muezzin (par haut-parleur) plusieurs fois par jour, ce que j'aime bien. Cependant, il commence chaque matin à 5h30, une heure après laquelle je ne m'endors pas toujours. Cette nuit, il ne m'a pas réveillée 🙌 et j'ai bien dormi.

​Je passe beaucoup de temps à l'appartement en ce moment, car on me livre sans cesse quelque chose. Quand un appareil arrive, il n'est pas déballé. C'est alors le travail du technicien du fabricant de l'appareil qui vient en général le même jour. Celui-ci déballe l'appareil (par exemple le réfrigérateur), l'installe et me donne une introduction sur le fonctionnement de l'appareil. Pour le frigo, c'était évidemment essentiel 😉.

​Pour la machine à laver, les choses ont été un peu plus compliquées. Le plombier est venu et a vu qu'il n'y avait pas de robinet n'était raccordé, c'est-à-dire que l'arrivée d'eau était là, mais sans robinet. Il a donc fallu appeler le plombier. Celui-ci s'est vraiment présenté environ 20 minutes plus tard (il y a toujours un plombier dans le lotissement, 7/24) et m'a dit qu'il devait acheter un robinet. Le technicien de la machine à laver a alors dit qu'il était de toute façon l'heure du déjeuner, qu'il allait manger et qu'entre-temps le plombier pourrait installer le robinet. Aussitôt dit, aussitôt fait. Au bout d'une heure ou deux, tout était fait.

​Petit ajout à l'histoire : comme nous n'avons toujours pas de compte bancaire (oui, c'est vraiment pénible 🙄), nous devons payer ce genre de dépenses en liquide. Le plombier a acheté le robinet, je n'avais pas le montant exact et lui n'avait pas de monnaie. Il a alors simplement pris ce que j'avais et m'a fait cadeau des quelque 150 roupies restantes. J'ai déjà fait l'expérience de cette générosité à plusieurs reprises ici ♥️.
